SYMBOLS

Symbols are the fastest form of communication inside the NΞDVERSE. They can be sprayed, carved, printed, worn and remembered.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Recognition. Resistance. Warning. Memory. The symbols serve as a decentralised communication system used throughout The Unseen movement. Unlike written messages, they require no names, no records, and no direct contact between members. A single mark can communicate danger, safety, movement, observation, or intent. To outsiders they appear as random graffiti. To those who understand them, they are instructions.

FIELD USE

Designed to be simple enough to reproduce quickly on walls, transit infrastructure, abandoned buildings, vehicles, posters, clothing, and public displays. Most symbols can be applied in seconds using paint, chalk, marker, dirt, or improvised materials. This simplicity is intentional. The symbol must survive even when the message cannot. MOVEMENT SIGNIFICANCE As GCC surveillance expanded, written communication became increasingly dangerous. Messages could be intercepted. Devices could be monitored. Citizens could be identified. The symbols emerged as an alternative. A language without words. A signal hidden in plain sight. Over time, the symbols evolved beyond communication and became cultural markers of The Unseen itself. Many members encounter the symbols long before they ever hear the name NΞD. COMBINATION PROTOCOL Individual symbols possess broad meanings. When combined, they create more complex instructions understood only by those familiar with movement practices. This allows information to travel across sectors without requiring direct coordination or central leadership. GCC ASSESSMENT Repeated attempts to catalogue, decode, and suppress the symbol system have achieved limited success. While individual meanings have occasionally been inferred, analysts remain unable to determine the full scope of the language or how new combinations continue to emerge. Several internal reports conclude that the symbols function as both communication and identity. FIELD OBSERVATION In sectors where NΞD activity is highest, citizens have been observed tracing symbols into dust, condensation, dirt, and damaged surfaces without conscious awareness. Analysts disagree whether this behaviour represents imitation, belief, or cultural transmission. NΞDVERSE NOTE Words can be erased. Voices can be silenced. A symbol only needs to be seen once.

DISCOVERED SYMBOLS

GCC analysts have recovered the following symbols from walls, transit infrastructure, abandoned sectors and unauthorised broadcasts. Their meaning remains unknown.
